Visit Costa Rica

Travel Considerations

  • A valid passport that will not expire within 90 days of arrival is required for travel to Costa Rica.

  • Since you will likely be staying at least one night in San Jose, you may want to bring a light sweater or jacket because it can get a bit cooler than along the coast. For the time spent at our properties, you’ll want casual, comfortable clothes (i.e., shorts, t-shirts, skirts & cotton tops). In particular, a pair of light weight long pants and sturdy walking/running shoes as you may be walking in tall grass and on moderately rough terrain. A hat, sunglasses and bathing suit will complete your packing. Don’t forget your camera & sunscreen.

  • North American appliances will work in Costa Rica because they have the same outlets and electricity.

  • US dollars can be exchanged for local currency at the international airport.

  • US dollars are widely accepted by taxis, restaurants and stores in the larger cities.

  • Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) are widely accepted throughout the country and ATMs are readily available.

  • No specific vaccinations are required to visit Costa Rica.

  • Water is safe to drink throughout the country and it especially clean at Ventana del Pacifico where it is brought down from the mountain springs.
